After berating myself over the lack of productivity I've had during the past few days, I realized that it hasn't even been a week since break started, and I should give myself some breathing room. Instead of criticizing what I haven't been doing, I thought it would be nice to list a few things that I have done. Some of the events that brighten up my day could be the smallest of events yet still impact it greatly.
Take today, for example. If I were to start out from the moment I woke up, it felt pretty great to wake up with the sun still bright and shining. The most satisfying part of this is that large stretch you make; the one where you stretch out to the point where your body's threatened to fall off either side of the bed as you try to untangle yourself from the wrath of your thick blankets. The morning pep talk I gave myself in the mirror when I step into the bathroom is also something that cannot be missed. Of course, it's not the cheesy kind of pep talk where I cheer myself on, but just a funny facial expression or something of the like to start the day.
And I don't know about you, but my favorite time of the day is definitely that first spoonful of whatever breakfast is going into my mouth. The initial thought that invades my mind once I leave my room is to make a direct beeline towards the kitchen and set myself up a good, hearty meal. Even during finals week, I was always the first to go to bed just to wake up early and enjoy breakfast hour. My good friend from Pawnee, Ron Swanson, has once said that "There has never been a sadness that can't be cured by breakfast food", and I wholeheartedly agree. A favorite of mine these days has been any crunchy cereal with nutty almond milk. Although, I could do without the occasional mouth attacks I get from eating too many crisp cereal pieces (Cap'n Crunch being a general offender for this cause).
The hour I had to myself after breakfast was also relaxing in its own way. Feeling content by satiating the hungry beast inside me, I made my way towards the computer and kicked back for an episode or two of 'Law & Order'. And honestly, the show has me hooked completely. I always wonder how shows that have been running for a long time are able to continuously bring up new content. An interesting topic that will definitely be brought up at another time.
Another "happy" moment of mine comes from the coffee of the day. If you know me, you would know that coffee is basically what I'm made of. The percentage of water that should be your body is around 50 percent, right? From what I see, I think coffee makes up a good half of that percentage. Always puts me in a good mood. I picked up my usual iced Americano today after making my passport (look, some progress achieved today!). Most times I would finish a Grande before arriving home, but luckily I was able to leave enough to mix with almond milk at home. I think I drink a carton a day of that delicious goodness. Lunch was just some Korean food (nakji-bokkeum, a type of tiny octopus dish). The picture doesn't do it justice as it was definitely tastier than it looks. Probably because it kind of looks reminiscent of the legendary Kraken with onions.

Even if there were only a few things accomplished today, it feels better to look at what was completed rather than worry about what I haven't done. This may not seem like much (and honestly, it probably isn't), but in retrospect, it's nice to just feel content in what was accomplished in one day. And now, I'm off to the gym. One more accomplishment to check off before ending this post.
Another day, another "hyej" jumped.
